Canaries with Birdcage

Here's the finished 'Canaries with Birdcage' painting! I'm not sure what the story this painting tells. Perhaps the male bird is waiting for his partner to take her freedom, but she's content with the security she gets from being taken care of within her cage. Or maybe she is 'nesting', and going to have babies, so she doesn't want to leave for the outside world.
Whatever story, I enjoyed painting this scene, especially the fabric drapes/wallpaper in the background. I feel it gives elegance to these domesticated birds.
